The Brett Weston Archive represents the most complete body of the photographer’s work in existence. Its digital presence needed to serve several audiences at once: collectors, galleries, curators, scholars, students, and people discovering Weston’s high-contrast abstract photography for the first time.

The business
Start with the reality behind the assignment.
An archive website is more than a gallery. It must preserve context, organize chronology, support research, explain rights and representation, and still create an emotional encounter with the work.
The breadth of material—from biography and portfolios to exhibitions, bibliography, collections, galleries, news, and film—required a clear information structure that could grow over time.
The challenge
The assignment was to build a respectful, image-led digital archive that makes a substantial historical record easier to explore without competing with the photography itself.
